Pond Lily

Published on May 30, 2026, 10:32

The pond starts to look natural again following this years refit.

The most impressive part is the recovery of the water lily. Previously this was one massive central lily that produced dozens of blooms but now its split into about 4 different children and the central one or two have produced this:

Also I saw a toad nearby the pond scrambling to get under cover, this is a good sign that one day we might have frogs too.

The damson flies have also returned but difficult to get a good photo since the reeds are now further inside the pond:

Due to record breaking high temperatures in May and dry at the same time the pond loses about 1mm in water level per day (@4m2 == 4litres)
